Plot summary

In 1916 a group of German soldiers under the command of lieutenant von Axmann are on their way to the Bengali coast to be picked up by a German submarine. The group is bringing with them valuable diamonds. The submarine is attacked by the British Navy and the Germans must instead head west through the jungle to be picked up by an airship. To find their way through the unexplored jungle they bring with them two bandars. The bandars, Moz and Llanga, lead the Germans on to the Phantom Trail where they soon are lost.
