Favorite Funnies was published weekly from January 1973 by DynaPubs Enterprises, a small publishing company of East Moline, Illinois (editor: Murray Bishoff). It was released in a tabloid format of 18 pages, folded in two, with the subtitle "The Best Comic Strips Ever! 1912–1945" appearing on the front page in a blue-colored cartridge.

The magazine was a compilation of various newspaper strip reprints such as the "The Phantom","Brick Bradford", "Charlie Chan", "Bringing Up Father", "Batman", "Alley Oop", each character featured on one page.

Only 12 issues were published as it appears that the publisher had not respected the King Features Syndicate copyrights. When the magazine was stopped, the comics were continued in Vintage Funnies.

As a result of such a brief publishing, no complete Phantom story was published .
