In the year 2006, a total of 26 issues of Fantomen were published.

2006 was the 70th anniversary of the Phantom comic strip. To mark the occasion, every cover of Fantomen featured a 70th anniversary symbol.

19 issues were regular issues of 72 pages, 6 were expanded issues of 104 pages, and 1 issue was a special 70th anniversary issue of 164 pages with a 20-page supplement. Every issue was on sale for 2 weeks.

The first issue of 2006 was released on December 29, 2005. The corresponding issue of Fantomet was released on December, 2005, and was numbered as the last issue of 2005 instead, thus giving Fantomet a total of 27 issues published in 2005. The corresponding Finnish issue was released first of the three, on December 21, 2005, but was still numbered as the first issue of 2006.
